Debi Ryan: Vintage Miss

I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas, our Christmas was a scorcher this year :-) The sunny weather has inspired this bright card I've made using the Milliner Misses set. All the ladies are gorgeous and vintage inspired.

Don't forget that the free stamp in this months UK Craft Stamper magazine is also a Milliner Miss, so pop down to your local shop or treat yourself and get the whole set from the RRD online store and create your own Milliner Miss card.

Wishing you all Happy Holidays

It's Christmas Eve so I wanted to do one last Christmas post. Here are some ornaments that I created using Tim Holtz's star die and some sweet stamps from RRD Candy Kisses. Aren't these stars cute, and they're so easy to make. Just die cut, stamp and color, fold, and glue.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!

Helene Huber: Gift Tag

We are a family of readers so books are definitely wrapped and under our Christmas tree.  I've been busy making gift cards and tags with Rogue Redhead Designs' Relish Reading stamp plate.

This particular tag is for my hubby.  I used the one layer concept but created some depth as follows:

foam application of Ranger Iced Spruce Distress Ink to manila tag
Boy stamped, cut out and placed on tag as mask
Almanac background stamped onto tag with Sepia Archival Ink
Mask removed and boy stamped into place with Coffee Archival Ink
Books and sentiment stamped onto tag on top of almanac background with Coffee Archival Ink.  I enhanced the books with a little distress marker.
Edge cut and embossed with Stampin' Up Sissix edgelit set, then highlighted with Ranger Vintage Photo Distress Marker.  This created a nice layered effect yet it still is only one layer.
Edges of tag edged with Ranger Vintage Photo Distress Ink

I found a little bit of raffia on my craft table that I added to complete the tag.

Have you played with the one layer technique? Check out the current Rebel challenge.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays!!!  Helene

Meet Midge

A new Milliner Miss is appearing on the cover of Craft Stamper's January 2013 issue where she made her debut as an acrylic stamp. Her name is Midge and she has style and panache. With her fabulous fashion, Midge is fantastic for any season.

Here are a couple of cards to show off Midge's style!

In this first card, Midge was colored with copic markers and then placed as the focal point of a card that combines pattern and color.  I ruffled a ribbon onto some double-sided tape to create the bottom ribbon border.  I finshed it off with a sentiment from the Milliner Misses mini.

For the next card, I used repetition and color to create some visual impact.  I stamped Midge on yellow, orange and deep red cardstock.  I used a square punch to create these tiles.  Everything was placed on a black mat and set off with some yellow patterned paper.

Look for a larger version Midge to appear on one of our upcoming releases!

Caught Snow Hugging!

We've caught Barbara using her new Snow Hugs stamps! She has created this wintery scene using fabulous fresh greens and pinks.

I love all her great details including the fabulous background, the die-cut leaves, the spray of pearls and the bakers twine on the ornament showcasing the sentiment.

To see more of Barbara's fabulous art, check out her Splitcoast Stampers Gallery.

Colleen Oxford: One-Layered Holidays

I hope everyone is getting into the Holiday spirit :)

My Family and I sure are.  The tree is up, decorations around the house and waiting on the Hubby to put lights on the house.  And a very special Christmas present came early...My Brother and Niece are up for a little vacation from Florida, too bad all of the snow has melted.

I have some One-Layered inspiration for you

I used many of the Wonderful Rogue Redhead Designs stamps to make these tags, and love how I could capture the feeling of many of the Holidays.

I used Candy Kisses for this cute and cuddly tag.

This adorable bear was just screaming to be a Pilgrim from Getting Grizzly and the squares are from Just Sayin'

Young Love...Using Reading Relish and Candy Kisses.

We Want You! What a fabulous Uncle Sam :) Using Just Sayin' and Candy Kisses.

And I have an extra special treat from my Niece Abrielle, she got a little crafty with me, making gift tags for everyone back home...

Helene Huber: Candy Card

I love to look through my stamps and interpret them in different ways.  Today this element from the Just Sayin' stamp plate reminded me of ribbon candy.  So I stamped it three times onto a plain white card with Ranger Festive Berries distress ink.

I took the sentiment and candy piece from the Candy Kisses stamp plate and used them to create a label which I adhered with foam dots onto the card.  I highlighted with a Sakura glitter pen for added sweetness. I was able to find in my stash some Colorbok card stock that matched the ink.

This is a busy time of year.  Simple yet festive cards still make it possible to give something hand crafted.

Stephanie Severin: Get My Drift?

I am having fun playing along with the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge over at The Classroom.  When I saw Julie Ebersole's fun tag for day three featuring red mittens, I knew the perfect stamps to join the fun.
I used stamps from three different RRD Sets ... Snow Hugs (how cool does that hat looked stamped & embossed in white), Candy Kisses & Just Sayin' (for that fun striped background).   The background was created by stamping the background several times in Momento Love Letter ink on the blue textured cardstock & cutting one-inch strips to layer on the tag base.  I finished with lots of pearls (really love how the one looks on the end of the hat).

And isn't that playful Candy Kisses sentiment just perfect ... love it!

Simple Set Saturday: Snow Hugs Text-ure

As we get closer and closer to the holiday season, there is less and less time for putting ink to paper.  I decided for this Simple Set Saturday that I would keep it that simple - putting ink to paper, old paper to be exact.

This is a quick way to show off almost any image with flair and minimum effort.  You can use vintage papers as I have with these examples or  you can create your own vintage paper with the Almanac background from Relish Reading.  I've used my Snow Hugs set for the main images.

For these cards, I selected a vanilla (ecru) cardstock to compliment the aged color of the paper.  I stamped the images with Memento onto the vintage paper, torn around the edges and then added light sponging in Antique Linen Distress ink.  To finish off I dragged the edges through some Vintage Photo Distress ink.

As vintage paper can be delicate, I used double-sided tape to adhere the images to their cardstock base instead of Tombo.

These Snow Hugs cards would work well for Christmas, Valentine's Day or any even a nice New Year's card.  With their romantic and whimsical design, these images are quite versatile.  Don't miss out on the Beautifully Dunn Bundle - on sale until December 30th!

Laura Liddell: Thank You Card

A simple thank you card ready for those post Christmas needs. Just two texture stamps were overlaid, followed by this sincere woman saying "Thank You". She comes from the Nature Notes stamp plate and I love the way she looks you straight in the eye!

Debi Ryan: Relish Notebook

This might be another one of my all time favourite stamps, and she really doesn't see ink as much as she should. This is a little notepad I've altered by covering to scallop circles I diecut using chipboard as the base. I've then covered, gessoed and stamped. These make great little stocking fillers.

And don't forget you've still got until the 2nd December to sneek an entry into the Rebel Uncard Challenge.

Colleen Oxford: Framed Reading

Hey Everyone!

I hope you get a chance to join in this months
Rebel Challenge: UnCard ending December 2nd.

I have a cute desk top calendar to show you for inspiration...

Stamps: Boy, Girl, Book border, Open book, and Sentiment from Reading Relish full-plate

I started out with a 5x7 plastic L-shaped acrylic photo frame. Cutting my background paper,Handsome Hunter, to fit. I then stamped the Book border across a 5 x 1 1/4 strip of Kiwi Kiss.  My main matte is a piece of So Saffron cut to 5 x 4 1/2 and stamped the girl in the bottom right-hand corner. The focal point is stamped on a 2 1/2 x 5 piece of Sage Shadow, I paper pieced his jacket to match the background color. Next I cut a 2 x 2 piece of Handsome Hunter and mounted a circle stamped with the sentiment and the open book. I finished by matting and adhering the calendar to the outside of the frame along with the pearls.

I hope to see what UnCard you come up with :)

Barbara Washington: Wish

I finally got a chance to play in my studio after the holiday excitement. I pulled out a tag and got to work. My tag background is wrinkle free distress, one of Tim Holtz's techniques. A little distress ink, a little water, and swish you've got a great background. I pulled out my RRD Just Sayin' stamps. They are so much fun to play with. Peaking behind the wreath (Tim Holtz/Sizzix die) is the old couple. Clear embossed on the background are several of  the flowers, or can we say snowflakes here (They do have six points). I took the border, stamped it in red, and cut it very close to the swirls. Then I embossed the whole piece with clear embossing powder. They look a lot like candy cane sticks. To finish off my tag I die cut an ornament with the word wish in it (Both Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies), put berries on the wreath using a Viva Decor pen, and added a red ribbon to the tag. Are we getting into the Christmas spirit yet?

Sharon Briss: For the Reader in Your Life

I made a bunch of these cards to accompany gifts to the book lovers on my holiday list this year.  I loved using the bright color palette with Marie, a vintage image from our Relish Reading plate.

I colored our thoughtful reader in with copic markers.  I love the soft effects available with the X-Press It Blending paper.  It really does create beautiful and seamless shading!

I used an oval cutter to isolate the image and cut a slightly larger one in orange cardstock to act as a mat.  I used the edge of this second circle as a guide for lining up the brads before adhering it to the back of the image.

To get the pennant effect, I angled my square punch so that it sat diagonal on a strip of cardstock.  I learned this extraordinarily helpful hint from our own Rogue Crew member, Stephanie Severin.

Don't forget that simple cards can still be impactful.  This particular card was made mostly from bits and pieces from my scrap baskets!

Helene Huber: Winter Tag

Here's hoping everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday had a wonderful day, filled with good food, good company, and lots to be thankful for!

The transition to winter holidays is quickly upon us.  Here is a tag which could also be used as a hanging ornament or a card front.   It's made with a distressed denim look.

Core'dinations cardstock embossed with Sizzix Stampin' Up big Shot Textured Northern Flurry, then sanded;

Highlight with Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Star pen.

trisha too: a tiny book full of big thanks

Oh yes, it's true, I may have gone overboard with all these tags, but it IS
Thanksgiving today here in the states, and I DO have a lot to be thankful for.

Believe it or not, all those tags fit inside this tiny book . . .
(there are more pics on my blog, by the way!)

Here's the Relish Reading fellow--used that set, plus Beach Babes,
Milliner Misses, and Nature Notes.  And the big honeycomb
background from Gettin' Grizzly, but that's hard to tell, as it was
used when making the monoprint papers.  You can see all of those
sets HERE.  Made any mini books or tags lately?  Either would be

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Craft Stamper Has Gone Rogue!

Check out the December issue of Craft Stamper magazine to see some fabulous pieces using our Snow Hugs plate.

Fabulous designers such as Joanne Allison, Kim Costello and our own Jean Franks Beck all created their own individualized samples using the Snow Hugs plate as their jumping off point!  The card above was created by the Chief Rogue, Sharon Briss.

If you haven't seen Craft Stamper, it's a great magazine for all levels of stampers from the beginner to dabblers to advanced inkers.  Each month, there are amazing easy-to-follow techniques and tutorials from leading designers.  While primarily a United Kingdom publication, it is available in some Barnes and Noble bookstores and select craft stores in the United States.

To celebrate this fabulous issue we are extending the sale on the Beautifully Dunn Bundle including the Snow Hugs full plate,  the Candy Kisses half plate and Carnival Dreams mini until December 30, 2012!

Debi Ryan: Christmas Gift Tags

Times just flying by, and I'm getting behind schedule with my Christmas present wrapping and card writing. I needed some gift tags quick. So I cut some tag shapes with a Spellbinders Letter Die. I've then stamped 3 of the tags with images from Candy Kisses.

I've coloured them with Prismacolor pencils and Promarkers.

For the second 3 I stamped with images from Snow Hugs, I added some Christmassy flowers and leaves too.

Perfect for making my family Christmas Presents look extra special.

Don't forget there's still time to join in the current Rebel Challenge: Anything but a Card!
