Helene Huber: Autumn Picnic with the Grizzlies

These bears, from the Getting Grizzly Stamp Plate, were begging to be used on my first post as a new member of the Rogue Crew.  My grade school penchant for creating dioramas and cutting out paper dolls has turned into adult paper crafting loves of fussy cutting and creating scenes such as the one on this side step card..

Here is my "step" by step process:

Getting Grizzly Stamp Plate:  I used 8 stamps from the plate to create this scene.

Make side step card base using 8-1/2" x 7" green card stock, scored and cut (templates available on internet).  The honeycomb section is 3 inches across and the bears on a tree portion is four inches wide.

Using Archival Coffee Ink, stamp bear images onto medium brown card stock.  Fussy cut stamped bears.  Using same brown card stock, stamp cutie sentiment with green ink.  I used a label punch for the sentiment.

On a neutral (manila) base, spray three autumn colors using water misting and kitchen roll techniques. I used Dylusions Ink Spray in Fresh Lime and Squeezed Orange along with Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist in Autumn Leaf.  Cut into strips to represent the forest floor and run through an embossing folder.  On the first and third steps, I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Bird Call.  On the second step, I used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fade, Pumpkin Patch. After fussy cutting the strips along some of the embossed shapes, adhere to card base "steps".  Position bears onto strips.  Add sentiment.  Add texture to the forest floor using Flower Soft.  (I used Shamrock Green for moss on the tree, then mixed it with Nut Brown and Summer for the forest carpet.)

Using Archival black Ink, stamp honeycomb background onto yellow paper and cut and mat into oval shape. (I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Ovals and Scalloped Ovals).  Place on large portion of card base.
Stamp bee3 times onto yellow paper, fussy cut and place onto card using foam pop dots.
