To play along, you have to combine their theme, "Vintage", with at least one other challenge! Of course, the more challenges you can put together, the better for this particular dare! You can submit a card, a scrapbook page or even an altered item!
Of course, this challenge was right in line with my love of all things vintage.
Sometimes you have to go a little soft and subtle with your vintage creations. I created an easy and moderately messy background with some distress ink, Memento or StazOn ink, a craft sheet, an RRD background stamp and some glossy cardstock. Just add water!
I really loved the effect! First cut your glossy cardstock down to the size panel you desire. I generally do a 5.25" x 4" panel.
Get out your craft sheet and stamp a variety of complimentary distress inks onto the surface. Mist the surface with a little water...and I mean just a little...no inky lakes need to be formed here. Drag your glossy cardstock through this inky landscape. Turn the card and drag it again. Let the cardstock dry for a few minutes. Randomly dab more ink onto the surface of the card. Blend out with a cotton ball or sponge. Mist the surface lightly to create a more patchy appearance. Let piece completely dry. Stamp the background stamp (I used Handwritten Music from Behind the Scenes) on top of the dry distress ink using either Memento or StazOn ink as you prefer. For the above piece, I used Memento and misted the piece one more time to get a slight blur.
To finish off this card, I stamped Marjorie onto white cardstock and colored her with Copic markers. I used my grey-toned and pale yellow-toned markers to bring down the more vibrant teal and blues so that they matched the tones in the background more closely. I matted her using chocolate colored cardstock and placed her front and center on my background panel.
