Stephanie Severin: Lacoste Cutie Bear

I dressed my little bear up in the latest styles ... drawing inspiration from Lacoste Couture at the Runway Inspired Challenge.  I inked the honeycomb background in Faded Jeans Distress ink, and then used a paper towel to dab away some of the ink from the stamp before adding Fired Brick Red Distress ink to get a similar feel as the fabric in the Lacoste outfit.

I combined the *Hi* sentiment from Bits & Pieces with the *Cutie* from Getting Grizzly.  I finished with lots of bumble bees looking for that pot of honey.

simply thinking of you by Joanne Wardle

I haven't been stamping much recently, but I needed a simple thinking of you card, and decided that the fern leaf from the rogue redhead floriculture set was the perfect stamp. The words are from rogue redhead's ultra-useful bits and pieces set. Between these two sets you have a card suitable for almost any occasion. I find this fern leave particularly suited to masculine cards, something you might not expect from a floral set.
To create a subtle effect I used the second impression stamping of the fern leaf using peeled paint ink.

Stephanie Severin: Floral Congratulations

This card combines stamps from Rogue Redhead Designs with this week's Retro Sketch & Webster's Pages papers.

The polka dot background paper was stamped in grey with the Ledger from Relish Reading to repeat the soft texty look of the seed packet.  The Congratulations sentiment is from Bits & Pieces.

Simple Set Saturday: Cleanly Sentimental

Talk about easy!  These clean ad simple hexagon cards go together in a flash and allow you to put some pizzazz on the paper while still focusing on the sentiment.

To start, I punched a bunch of hexagons out of a colorful scrap of designer paper I had in my basket.  I love working with this great shape as there are so many ways to arrange and play with them as you can see!

For this set, I turned to my Bits and Pieces set with all its fun sentiments and I borrowed the final sentiment from my Floriculture set. These sets are paired together

In this first card, I have used a typical honeycomb pattern along-side my sentiment.  They are easy to put together in fairly uniform patterns as long as you keep lining up the edges.

I turned the card and opened up the pattern a bit for a slightly different look.

The next card, I thought the hexagons would look great as decorative look emanating from corners with the sentiment in the middle.

For the last card, I used all one pattern for my hexagons let them meander across my page.  I stamped the sentiment in the nooks and crannies that were created.

I hope you liked these simple cards!  They would make a great set to give to Mom on Mother's Day!

Update: I was asked a few times about the punch I used.  It is a Hexagon Shape Maker from Creative Memories with two hexagon shapes in the same punch which I bought several years back.  Although this punch appears not to be available anymore, there are hexagon dies for die cutting systems such as Sizzix and Spellbinders.  You can also look for quilting templates for a slightly more cumbersome but still viable solution to hand drawing.

Beverly G: Tattered Mother's Day

A Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! I've got an easy scrapalicious card for you this morning. Yes, Mother's Day will be coming around soon and I decided to make something a little bit different for my Mom this year. She's not a very frilly kind of gal even though she does like flowers. I pulled some scraps together off my table, glued them randomly on a piece of Cajun Craze card stock, then took the background stamp from Relish Reading and inked it up with VersaMark ink, stamped the whole thing and heat embossed with copper embossing powder. I heat embossed with copper again the sentiment from the Bits and Pieces stamp set and added the cool little border from Relish Reading for a finishing touch to the bottom. I then tied the bottom knot with this cool Chocolate Chip ribbon and cut two extra pieces to tie the extra two knots and anchored them down with glue dots under the knots.
Mom's usual lead a pretty tattered scattered life, so hope this inspires you to come up with something good for your Mom's this year.

Beverly G: Hi Flowers

Good Tuesday Afternoon--Spring has sprung where I live so today I've chosen to go with the pastel fashion colors that are on the chart for Challenge #10-Spring Fashion Colors.
I've used the Floriculture stamp set and the Hi from Bits and Pieces stamp set. The rest of the products are Stampin' Up. Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride. I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle so I spritzed a piece of Blushing Bride card stock with Blushing Bride Smooch and then stamped the flowers with Basic Grey ink, the same with the Hi. Oops, I did use Spellbinders Scallop Ovals dies.
We look forward to seeing how all of you use the colors on this Spring Fashion Palette, there's quite a variety there and all beautiful shades.

Penny Bennington: Masterboard Cards

The newest Rebel Challenge involving the Pantone Spring 2012 Fashion Colors list of 10 colors gives you quite a few to choose from. My idea was to use a masterboard concept, creating a colorful, random background on a 9x12 sheet of watercolor paper and then.....

...see how many cards I could make!

My supplies were simple: I used two watercolor crayons for my base color inspired by Pantone's bellflower and margarita and stamped the background from Beach Babes after coloring on the stamp and spritzing with water. Those two colors - periwinkle and yellow green - really evoke spring flowers to me. Then I stamped the bud from Floriculture with archival ink, inspired by Pantone's solar yellow, and finally randomly stamped text and a border from Relish Reading with StazOn - the only dark blue ink I had - inspired by Pantone's sodalite blue.

The easiest card to make was to cut a piece of the masterboard to create a background.

Next, I cut out simple shapes, attached them to a card base and roughly doodled around them.

Another idea was to cut inchies and inch-and-a-half-sies (what are you supposed to call the bigger version lol!) and arrange them in grids.

Finally I still had scraps left, so I cut them into strips of random widths and haphazardly wove them into a pattern. I was amazed at how many cards you could produce from the masterboard. I even used two more Pantone colors for inspiration - starfish is similar to the kraft card base - and the tiny strips of dark brown in three of the cards are inspired by driftwood. All the stamped sentiments on each card are from Bits and Pieces.

Deb Corder: Chemistry Lesson

It's no secret that I love Tim Holtz's techniques! And like many of you, I enrolled in Chemistry 101 for a few lessons. I haven't completed all the classes just yet. But one or two of the techniques inspired me to get out BITS and PIECES and FLORICULTURE.
This first tag is "Spritz and Flick". Sponged color and drops of water. I used Broken China, Scattered Straw, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, and Brushed Corduroy.

This second tag was a "WOW" gotta try that technique. Tim calls it "Archival Resist". I used Archival Sap Green, Olive, Monarch Orange, and Saffron. Tim sponged his creation with a brown Distress Ink and I thought it looked dull and lifeless.  So I used Scattered Straw and a little Spiced Marmalade.

Beverly G: Anniversary Gate Fold

A Great Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!
I've got two pictures for you today. I've created another gate fold because you've still got time to get in on Challenge 9-Gate Fold Cards.
Spring is blooming all around where I live so I have gone with some bright springy colors. Peach Parfait, and Rose Red, who knew those colors looked that good together. The pattern paper is from a K&Co. Valentine Pad  from last year. (I've got to stop hoarding and cut and use these pretty papers I love to add to my stash).
I just love this couple from the Just Sayin' stamp set, I just know he's being romantic. The sentiment inside is from the Bits & Pieces stamp set and the flower from Just Sayin'. I used a removable glue dot to hold the card closed, it's works great, not to bulky.
April 8th is the deadline on the challenge, love to see you all come join in.

Holly Brown: Wisteria Ladies

Good morning! It's Holly posting today. You've heard me say this before, and I'll say it again. I love the Milliner Misses set from Rogue Redhead Designs. :-) I stamped these ladies with wisteria ink, die cut them, and then sponged more wisteria ink around them. I used a faux stitching technique on the layered mat and a touch of Cuttlebug Highlights on the embossed background. The sentiment comes from the Bits and Pieces set - such a versatile set! You can make just about any sentiment you want from the words in this set.

Thanks for stopping by to visit! I hope you have a wonderful day!!

Sharon Briss: Playing with Paper

The Rogue Crew is playing along with Gingersnap Creations this month. They just posted a color challenge to "Use Two Colors Only". I chose Coffee and Cream for mine with a little cafe au lait thrown in.

Once, I had the first card, I couldn't resist making some more. I used vanilla and chocolate cardstock and one double-sided paper and one script paper. The layouts use similar elements but are not the exactly the same. I made two rectangular cards (5.5" x 4.25"), one large square card (5.5" x 5.5") and one mini card (3.25" x 3.25").

I used the characters from Just Sayin' and some of the sentiments from Bits and Pieces. I colored the figures with copic markers using only colors in the brown family.

I really like how they came out! What do you think?

Don't forget! You can still get the Just Sayin' plate on sale for $17.60 today!

Don't miss out...just sayin'

Jennifer Ingle: Happy, Happy Birthday!

Well, I am excited to be sharing another card using the brand new Just Sayin' set with all of you! And...because today just so happens to be my birthday, I decided to forgo the Happy UNbirthday stamp in that one and, instead, combined it with the fabulous Bits and Pieces plate where I found a wonderful Happy Birthday sentiment option! I love combining my stamp sets!

Happy Birthday

I stamped the wonderful border repeatedly to achieve this graphic design. The circles are punched from orange cardstock.

Happy Birthday (detail)

I just love the graphic design that came from that wonderful border and a few simple circles! I hope you enjoy it, too! Have a Happy MY BIRTHDAY!!!! YAY! LOL!

Jingle Out!

Jean Franks Beck: Masculine Christmas Card

It's that time of year, and I've got a masculine Christmas card for you today, using the boy and text background from Relish Reading, along with a sentiment from Bits and Pieces.  All of the patterned papers are from Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas 6x6 paper pad, and the background embossing is using a Tim Holtz Christmas Background and Borders Texture Fade.  I colored the boy with Copics, and collaged together papers until I liked the feel of the whole thing.  My uncle is an avid model train collector, so I had him in mind when I made this.  I can imagine the boy in the train station, contemplating getting on the Polar Express!  Using themed patterned papers is a great way to get extra mileage out of your stamps.... and go from "Relish Reading" to "Relish Christmas", LOL!

Sharon Briss: Easy Vellum Window Cards

I wanted to really try something new today and I had never tried to create a window card. Now seemed as good a time as any to try it!

I started by punching out a square window out of a simple white base. I then punched a coordinating mask out of a post-it note and carefully aligned it. I then stamped my Lily of the Valley image from the Floriculture plate through the window onto the inside of the card.

For the first one, I left the mask in place and carefully sponged around the edges of the punched window. This created a sponged frame on the inside of the card.

I wanted to be able to see something slightly different on the outside of the card than on the inside so I decided to add some patterned vellum. I stamped the lily of the valley onto the vellum, colored it from the back with copics and trimmed it. I added vellum adhesive around the backside of the punched window, then I held the vellum piece in place against the stamped image on the inside of the card. Keeping it in place, I closed the front of the card on top of vellum and pressed down to get a bond between adhesive and vellum.

To finish off, I punched two more "frames" out of patterned paper and added them to the front and back of the card.

The inside panel:

I played with this same formula a bit for the next card changing very little.

For a different look, I followed the same procedure but this time after stamping the lily, I colored it in with a Versamark marker, added clear embossing powder and heat embossed it. This allowed me to get right up to the image with the distress ink.

Here's a full view of the inside panel:

Instead of a frame around the image, I left this one plain but added a ribbon detail to the front.

On the inside I added a full panel of patterned paper.

It's always fun to try something new! Why not try your own window cards? They are a ton of fun once you get the knack of them!
