Have you checked out the latest Rebel challenge? Ink up a sentiment or quote and make it the focal point of your creation. Here's mine:
I used the sentiment from the RRD003 Floriculture stamp plate. The honeycomb background stamp is from the RRD010 Getting Grizzly stamp plate. I thought they paired up nicely.
Flower is from Stampin' Up. Seam binding, which I crinkled up with some water, is from my stash. Papers: Canvas Home Basic horizontal note card; Stampin' Up Very Vanilla card stock. Inks: Coffee Archival for stamping; Ranger Tea Dye Distress for edging.
I'm anxious to see what you come up with as your sentimental focus!

Debi Ryan: Floriculture Blues
Here's a quick card I've made this afternoon, using some of the stamps from Floriculture. I've masked and then sponged the background with 2 shades of blue, then stamped using the stamps from Floriculture in the same shades.
And then some little details to finish.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Debi Ryan: Spring Layout
Today I have a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout for you. I've started with a white piece of cardstock, which I've then sprayed and sponged the yellow and the green onto. To add extra detail and interest I've stamped using 2 of the stamps from the new background set: Behind the Scenes and the seed head from the Floriculture set.
I then sprayed some paper daises from Stampin' Up and added some lace, finally stamping the sentiment from the Floriculture set.
Here's to all my Northern Hemisphere friends getting some sights of Spring soon :-)

Barbara Washington: Love Notes
This month's Challenge is to create 3x3 inch love notes. These are so much fun to make that I couldn't stop at just one. My first card was a bit of an experiment. All of the stamps I used are from Beach Babes. I used broken china distress paint for the background and then stamped the background stamp using water into the paint. Since distress paint reacts to water while still wet, I got an image. I then stamped over the background using a darker ink. I stamped the boat and colored it with distress markers. I used the out of the Nestie technique to cut it out and added a border. I stamped the sentiment in the top corner with archival ink. For fun I added some bling bubbles.
My second card is somewhat CAS. I cut a heart out of my front panel and layered it over the hand written music stamp from Behind the Scenes. The flower and sentiment are from Floriculture.
There's still plenty of time to join the challenge fun. These cards are addictive.

Barbara Washington: Three Beauties
Don't these beautiful ladies from Milliner Misses look great framed by the wonderful new Behind the Scenes backgrounds. I love a good background stamp and the Behind the Scenes set gives you four great backgrounds. Don't forget, Behind the Scenes is on sale now until March 31st.
I have been having so much fun playing with these backgrounds. Here is another card I created by rolling small sections of the background stamps on the distressed stain background.
The flower image is an old Penny Black sticker and the sentiment comes from the Floriculture stamp set.

Simple Set Saturdays: Vintage Valentines
We're celebrating Valentine's Day on our Simple Set Saturday this month! I generally do not make traditional valentines and this year is no exception. I've gone quite simple using only standard cardstock, glossy paper and watercolor paper. I kept the color palette simple - 2 shades of pink and 3 shades of brown. Layering a backgrounds, one waterstamped and the other traditionally stamped gave teh backgrounds a lovely depth and complexity of texture. I did not use any cupids or hearts and instead relied on vintage images and romantic sentiments.
To keep the required time to create these nice and tight, I organized my tasks. I started by cutting the glossy paper into 4 panels measuring 4.0" x 5.25". For the next step, I did each panel individually as I did not want the ink to by too dry. I used a direct-to-paper inking technique with some Victorian Velvet Distress Ink on the glossy panel and smoothed out the result with a cotton ball. I choose my first backgound and spritzed it with water. I pressed it onto the distress inked glossy panel and then removed the stamp. A lovely inverse of the background stamp appeared. I repeated this procedure with the other three panels, choosing a different background stamp each time. I set these aside to dry a bit.
You can see in this first card the layered background. For this card, I waterstamped the Bubble Wrap background from the new Behind the Scenes collection and overstamped with the Sandy Beach background from Beach Babes. The boat and sentiment are also from Beach Babes.
Here you can see a detail of the two texture backgrounds layered together.
My next step was to stamp my desired vintage images onto the watercolor paper. I used Timber Brown StazOn ink so that I could immediately start watercoloring them with an aquabrush and my distress inks. I wanted to keep a minimal color palette so I chose to use the Victorian Velvet again with Spun Sugar, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo. The last two colors remain on my craft table as go-to colors. I usually stamp the inks I want to watercolor with onto an acrylic block so that I can pick them up easily and I don't damage my ink pads.
You can see on this next card that I kept the watercoloring merely a hint of color. I just wanted to give some dimension to the images. For this card, I had waterstamped my Handwritten background (Behind the Scenes) and overstamped with the Handwritten Music from the same set. The couple is from Just Sayin' and the sentiment is from Snow Hugs.
While my first round of painted ink was drying, I overstamped my second background images onto each of my four glossy panels using Victorian Velvet again. As the direct-to-paper and sponging had laid a light hue of color on the panels, the full strength version of the ink gave wonderful contrast.
The background below is the inverse of the one above. I waterstamped the Handwritten Music and then overstamped the Handwriting background.
From here, I added a second layer of detail to my watercolored images. I like to let them dry and then apply my next layer of ink to give a little shading without having to use additional colors.
You can see the extra shading on my third card. I used Dot and one of the sentiments from Milliner Misses. To cut down the whiteness of the watercolor paper, I used a soft wash of Spun Sugar around the image.
To finish off the cards, I cut 4 card bases from burgundy cardstock. I used an additional sheet of cardstock to mat my images which I had cut into ovals and circles. When matting my images, I offset my images slightly for a little different look.
I especially liked the look for my final card, a simple floral valentine. To create this card, I had waterstamped the Sequin Waste background (Behind the Scenes) and added the Almanac background from Relish Reading overtop.
For my images, I chose the cosmos blossom and "Je t'aime" from Floriculture and added very minimal color.
Once assembled, I really liked the unified color and look. Hope you do as well!

Simple Set Sunday: Rogue in the Round
One thing I love about being part of the stamping and papercraft community is the amazing amount of inspiration, knowledge and fabulous techniques that are shared amongst the group. Today, I have a simple set inspired by Cathy of A Surcee Life who wowed me with a Rogue wreath for our One-Layer Holiday card challenge using her new Inkadinkado Stamping Gear! Check out Cathy's post to see how she put her creation together!
Of course, as soon as I saw Cathy's great card and informative tutorial, I just had to have a Stamping Gear of my very own! Mine arrived a few days ago and I immediately put it to use.
I'll be using the largest circle for today's cards with 5.5" x 5.5" card bases cut from vanilla cardstock and the largest of the Stamping Gear circular wheels.
For my first card, I wanted to keep it simple. I decided on the theme of thanks as I have a lot of Thank You cards to put together after the holidays! I turned to my Nature Notes set and the small flourish.
The lovely gear wheel has markings to help guide you with each stamp project. Once lined up, I stamped my flourish every fourth gear slot (or every other triangle-marked slot). I continued around the circle.
To fill in my lovely circle, I turned the flourish a quarter turn on the stamp paddle and stamped alternate triangle-marked slots.
To complete the card, I punched out a scalloped circle from coordinating paper and stamped the "Thank You" sentiment on it. To make it stand out a bit more, I attached the circle to the card with a pop dot.
The next card I made, I decided to try two colors and make a Valentine. I used a soft pink and a slightly stronger pink ink for this one. I started out in the same manner as the previous card, stamping every other triangle-marked slot with the rose inked with light pink. For the image, I picked one of the roses from the Floriculture set.
I then created two simple masks from a repositionable note and placing them over two adjacent light pink roses. I then inked the rose with darker pink and, leapfroging the masks as I went, stamped in-between each of the light pink roses creating a full rose wreath.
To end off, I used a waterbrush to pick up the coordinating inks and fill in the roses with a light wash of color. I used another punched scalloped circle for the "Love You" message that I attached to the card, again using a pop dot.
For the final card, I stamped the Sun from Florculture with yellow ink at the first slot. Without reinking, I moved over 3 slots and stamped again for a slightly lighter impression. I reinked, moved over another 3 slots and repeated the process. I added a layered Prima flower to finish off the circle and added the "Je t'aime" sentiment to complete a sunnier Valentine which is destined for my Mom's mailbox.
So that's Rogue in the Round! Hope you enjoyed my simple set today!

Debi Ryan: Art Journal Page
For Christmas, my hubby bought me a beautiful A4 Art Journal. I couldn't wait to create, here's the first page. I masked and sprayed with Dylusions. I then sprayed the background stamps from Getting Grizzling and Snow Hugs to add more texture and interest. I also stamped the roses from the Floriculture set, and the kisses from the Snow Hugs set.
Here's wishing you a very Happy 2013, Debi x

Simple Set Saturday: Get Scrappy
If you are like me, you probably have a lot of little strips of designer paper hanging around that you have optimistically figured would be useful for some "future project". Well, I decided to make that distant tomorrow, a reality today.
Grab those little strips of paper and start creating some great note card sets! The idea is very simple!
First, I cut strips into 3/4" to 1" strips of varying lengths. I lined them up and then offset them. I taped the strips together on the backside. Then...and this is the easiest part...just stamp one of your favorite images onto the strips in black. I added a sentiment on one of the longer strips. Once the image was placed, I also did some strategic cutting to create more interest. I put the whole thing on a plain white card, positioned the strips as desired and trimmed the bits sticking out the edges. You don't even have to make things straight! How easy is that?
Here are the other cards I created using the same method:
If you try out this easy way to use up your scraps, please add a comment with a link! We would love to see your fabulous cards!

Debi Ryan: Shadow Bird Tag
Today, I'm sharing you a tag I've created using the Floriculture Set. I've sprayed and stamped the background, and then used some dies to add the key and the bird. I created the shadow bird by using the cut out from the day as a homemade mask. I'm really enjoying bright colours and getting inky at the moment, I hope you can see that from this tag.
Remember there's just a short time to go to get any of the sets on Sale.

Stephanie Severin: Nature Notes Montage
I love stamping on designer paper, and the new Nature Notes stamps are perfect to create a stamped montage.
I used for different stamps from the Nature Notes set (stamping the flower multiple times) together with the blocked border from Floriculture for my design. The designer paper is the Lille Collection from 7Gypsies.

"triangle square" card by Joanne Wardle
I saw the idea for this shape of card on the create and craft channel ( I think it was Debbie Moore) and thought I'd like to give it a try. I like the way the whole card is made out of just the front piece.
I actually made this with really thin card as a trial and was surprised by how well it stood up, so thought it would be useful as a quick notelet.
I wanted the square part to stand out from the border when standing, so I masked off the border and inked with tattered rose distress ink. I added the splashy background by using the background stamp from the beach babes plate. I used it unmounted and rolled it up so I could just "roll" the pattern onto the areas I wanted.
The flower is from the floriculture plate and the words are from the bits and pieces set.

Barbara Washington: Love Your Style
Today I combined this beautiful image and sentiment from Milliner Misses with a lovely Cheery Lynn frame cut in silver and gold for the image panel on my card. The background is in green patchwork. The lighter sections have been stamped with the fern stamp from Floriculture using distress forest moss ink.

Sharon Briss: A Little Stamping Goes a Long Way
Sometimes, you only need a little stamping to complete a project. That was true of this project. I had painted the canvas with a variety of greens, blues and purples but it still needed a little something.
I decided to ground the colors by stamping the honeycomb background from Getting Grizzly in black on the corners of painted surface which accomplished two goals - providing visual texture and a contrast color and setting up a bridge between the background and the text pages that I had chosen as part of my collage. It also picked up the black in the birds and butterfly. To give it more of a rustic feel, I dd not fully ink the stamp before applying it the canvas.
While I loved the energy of this canvas and all the great vintage images, I need something to tie the components together so I chose a quote from Floriculture, shaped the cardstock into a tag and distressed it to match the feel of the rest of the canvas. Here color was important again. I chose this light green to pick up the fragments of green in the background and in the images. By distressing it with tea dye ink, I was able to get a closer match to what was on my canvas.
Finally, I added a couple of sentiments from Floriculture stamped directly onto the canvas - Le Jardin and Fleur. Along with the garden/flowers theme, I added a beautiful bouquet of flowers to the corner. I again used the fresh green to bring everything into nice harmony.
So take a look at some of your stamps and see if they would add that little je ne sais quoi to your canvas creations.

Barbara Washington: Beyond the Picket Fence
I spent another fun afternoon with my Rogue Redhead Design stamps. I love how the different stamp sets work together. The bears and sentiment are from Getting Grizzly. I stamped the bears and tree with coffee archival ink and colored the image with distress markers. I went over the images with a water pen to give that watercolor look. The flower is from Floriculture. The card is finished with the tag fence technique, an on-line bonus from the current Technique Junkies newsletter. The tags are colored with distress stain and stamped with the background stamp from Just Sayin'.

simply thinking of you by Joanne Wardle
I haven't been stamping much recently, but I needed a simple thinking of you card, and decided that the fern leaf from the rogue redhead floriculture set was the perfect stamp. The words are from rogue redhead's ultra-useful bits and pieces set. Between these two sets you have a card suitable for almost any occasion. I find this fern leave particularly suited to masculine cards, something you might not expect from a floral set.
To create a subtle effect I used the second impression stamping of the fern leaf using peeled paint ink.

Debi Ryan: Just Like Honey
I wanted to share with you this tag I've made using the really versatile Getting grizzly New Release Set.
I stamped first with the honeycomb background stamp, I then sponged in yellow and added some orange bees. I then stamped and coloured the bears. I added some forest greenery with the leaf stamp from the Floriculture set. I then added the sentiment and added beeswax to the whole tag. Beeswax adds a lovely smooth texture and just slightly intensifies the colours, but most of all I love the divine smell that the beeswax adds, it smells just like honey. Finally I stamped and cut a couple of bees and added them to the tag raising them on on foam tape.

Trisha Too: a Rogue-ish tag . . .
First, congratulations to all the Rogues who joined in the Warm Tones for
Gents challenge--fantastic cards, ladies!
This Rogue-ish tag was created using one of the sylish Milliner Misses. (I
think she's quite pretty as is, but now wish I'd given her a little Rogue rouge!)
The the main tag is stamped with the netted background from the Just Sayn'
plate, and the smaller tag uses a sentiment and one of the lovely roses from
the Floriculture plate.
